This unique low friction fender design, was specially engineered to reduce friction between ships and the bumper, for which U.H.M.W. surface blocks were incorporated.

These blocks protrude the body and provide the only contact surface until heavy pressure is exerted. At this point, the rubber part of the body also contacts the ship, providing extra friction to aid in arresting any excessive ship movement.

Their bodies also incorporates other design features as well :

• The side walls are tapered and so is the center cavity. This provides for progressive resistance to increasing loads.
• Multiple layers of heavy yarn fabric help ensure long-term crush resistance. In fact it can be totally collapsed under extreme shock, only to bounce back, intact, to its original shape.
• The extra wide and stiff mounting flange disperses heavy loads to a greater pier wall area, as opposed to allowing concentrated loads to reach the pier. This is an obviously advantage; it can be particularly important on older, weakened, pier structures
